We are going to catch a killer....

Incident happened in a city of southeast India on the Bay of Bengal, south-southwest of Chennai (Madras). It consists of four former French coastal settlements. Yes, it is Puducherry (Pondicherry).

YEAR 1994

Two cousins Chandru (10), Vasu (12) with their nana along with Romy brownie and john lived in a 3 storey building which we usually call a home. On the terrace of their home there was a cage with 30 to 40 pigeons in it.

One bad day around 2 in the noon, Chandru went to the terrace to feed the pigeons. He closed the small opening of the cage and came running down to Vasu. Chandru’s face was commingled with fear and sadness. Chandru tried to explain what he saw on the terrace. Both ran up to the scene. Romy joined them ferociously. Vasu’s face turned same as Chandru’s when he saw the scene with his own eyes. Anger grew in them. The cage was filled with blood. Four pigeons were dead with their body shattered and feathers scattered. Few eggs were broken. Rest of them was flapping their wings trying to escape the cage to save their life. Romy was shouting at the cage. The 2 were helplessly seeing the cage. Both looked keenly into the cage where they saw a blackish cat with a pigeon dying in his mouth. Blood was dropping from his mouth. The 2 couldn’t take this up. They planned not to leave the cat alive out of the cage.

Chandru went around and searched for weapons but couldn’t find one. He saw a long iron rod which is used for construction works. He showed it to Vasu; they were thinking to use the rod for the operation and finally decided to put one end of the rod into flames. There was a burner on their terrace used by their granny. The birds were still flying hard for their lives in the cage. Vasu ignited the burner and Chandru was in the process of heating the rod. As time goes on the rod was becoming hot hotter and hottest. Finally the rod became golden color; Chandru was not able to hold the other end as it was too hot. As the cage was built by net, Chandru and Vasu inserted the hot rod into the cage. The cat was now running for its life from them. Hope the cat understands that life is a cycle. As it was running around the cage the rod was touching the cat’s skin. Both were able to smell the cat’s hair burning. Cat got a new designer skin with stripes in its body which gave it a new look.

As time goes on the rod was loosing its color. Chandru took it out and started reheating. The rod regained its color back. This time they dint waste time making stripes on the skin. Vasu was holding the rod and he just inserted it into the cat’s stomach, Chandru helped him in doing that. It wasn’t too difficult for them as the rod was so hot it easily pierced the skin .The cat was screaming for its life. But the 2 enjoyed doing it as they were seeing already blood in the cage they dint find the cats blood too different. The blood was dropping from the rod. Chandru saw the cat from the side where he could notice the rod has torn out the other side of the cat’s stomach. They were confused and astonished seeing the cat alive though the rod has fully torn the stomach of the cat. Chandru wasn’t so clear of what he was seeing as the intestine of the cat has come out a little. Vasu clarified him as he was the elder. The rod was pulled out. Both expected the blood to flow as free flowing water, but it dint. They thought it to be a chemical reaction between the blood and the hot iron rod.

As the cat was still alive both guns were thinking of other way to rest the cat forever. Chandru ran down the stairs and was back in a flash with a wooden log. Vasu and Chandru made a small plan to execute the cat. Chandru went near the door of the cage and slightly made an opening. The cat tried to escape the spot through the opening. When its body was half way through the door Chandru pushed the door and cat stuck between it. Vasu with the wooden log made a straight hard hit with his full energy on the head which made it faint. They took a bag, dragged the cat into it and tied it. The cat was living its last few minutes. Finally it rested when both young guns showed their power with a wooden log and an iron rod on the cat’s body. Even though the cat was dead both were hitting it as hard as they were having the vengeance so high seeing the cage again and again.

Chandru took the bag as the blood was dropping from it and walked in their street with a smile in his face showing that they achieved something great in their lifetime. Surely they did, haven’t they?
